This is a short, simple thought I had this morning. Those are often the best ones to have, I find.
My writing setup suits me perfectly. I have a laptop that I can take anywhere and even, for short periods of time, run without it being connected to power. But when I am sitting at my desk I use a wireless keyboard and mouse which are far easier and more efficient than the flat laptop keyboard and trackpad. Fewer cables, sometimes none at all, means more flexibility and portability.
Of course, the laptop needs to be charged regularly, just like my smartphone and Kindle. The keyboard and mouse also have batteries that need to be changed sometimes.
As long as I manage the power levels, all these devices help me to be mobile, connected and independent all at the same time.
Then I realised that I, personally, am permanently wireless. Ever since I was born, I have been disconnected from any physical power source. Granted, I have to eat, drink and sleep, but I have my own power source that I carry around with me. It has a limitless range and the battery life is, well, as long as my life, whatever that turns out to be.
You’re wireless too. Just try it. Sit still, breathe in. Breathe out. Do it again. Now move your arms. And your legs. Sing. Remember the date of your birthday. You just did all of that (and you are still breathing without having to remember to do it) completely on your own power.
Ok, so the next question is something like, ‘where does the power come from?’ Well, that’s the million dollar question, and we can each answer it for ourselves, or not answer it, as we wish.
Wow, limitless, priceless power, always on tap, from an unknown source! Sounds like some kind of miracle…
That’s an interesting concept. Sometimes I feel totally wireless myself.
Haha yes can be good or bad depending which way you look at it!
I like the modern imagery linking our own powerfulness to wireless technology… Magic happens when we truly own and step into our own power. I’ve just recently witnessed it myself and it’s fabulous. So remarkable to be really free and master of my own destiny…
Thank you! So pleased this resonates with you. It’s sometimes as if the power has been there all along but if we don’t know about it we can’t use it…
