I’m back – what next?

By November 20, 20186 Comments

Well, long time no blog. The last few years have been filled with challenging family stuff, but now I am spending time with my keyboard again and looking forward to making my writing a little more public.

I never stop writing. I have several journals on both laptops and there are always a few notebooks on the go. Sometimes I am out and need to write, and have to find an odd scrap of paper or dictate into my phone. Writing never stops, but putting my words out into the world has been on hold for some time.

Commitment is a big theme for me at the moment. Show up. Say what you will do. Do it, even if you no longer feel like doing it.

I am not about to commit to anything rash like daily blogging but I do think it’s time to become a little more visible on two themes:

I am sorting through my great-grandfather’s papers. He was a missionary in China at the end of the nineteenth century and I have become the custodian of his letters, diaries and other mementoes. This is painstaking work as his writing is difficult to decipher and they are written on the thinnest of paper. I’m not entirely sure where we will end up but the journey will be fascinating. I will share snippets and discoveries as I go along.

The other theme is one I have blogged about before – home education. I know Oliver has learned a lot since 2008 when I took him out of school but I think I may have learned just as much if not more! I am looking forward to sharing stories, insights and my own experience.

So there we are, accountability set up and commitment ongoing.

Watch this space.

Welcome back Harriet, I have always enjoyed your comments on life and now I can look forward to learning more. A great great grandfather with Chinese connections sounds exciting, if a daunting archive experience, and I have wondered about your home schooling experience and will be interested to learn of the highs and lows, benefits and drawbacks.
